Frequently Asked Questions

How will implementing EHR help my practice?

In using an Electronic Health Record, you will better manage your patients and increase revenue. You have the opportunity to easily follow lab work over a period of time to provide better follow up to your patients. For example, you can view all the BUN and CR measurements of your diabetic patients on one page.

What is meaningful use and how do I know what I’m doing will qualify?

The government committee responsible for meaningful use will soon release their final guidelines. At eMedCare Solutions, we will work hard to ensure you get the most out of our product and are eligible for the maximum government reimbursement.

Since the reimbursement doesn’t begin until 2011, why do I have to convert now?

In order to qualify for the maximum amount of reimbursement by the federal government you have to have an EHR in place by 2011, as well as show meaningful use by that time. Integration of your practice and proper use will take some time. We will work with you to make sure you can qualify by the first reimbursement deadline. Also, early adopters will be eligible for the maximum reimbursement.

How do I get reimbursed?

Physicians are eligible for Medicare incentive payments based on an amount of 75% of the allowed Medicare Part B charges. You will receive up to a 3% increase in reimbursement if you use an EHR. In addition, there will be a new ICD 9 code which will pay you a percentage of the charge with the use of your new system.

What are the exact criteria for Meaningful use?

The list of criteria is very long, and are different from one year to the next. We will educate you and your staff, and work with you to ensure that you use our systems in the most meaningful and efficient way.

How will my practice be affected by the installation process?

We will work with you to minimally affect the day to day operations of your practice. Your employees will be trained in stages, and the hardware installation can be done after office hours. We will also provide educational material to your patients explaining the changes and how it will affect them as part of the implementation process.

What is ePrescribe?

The CMS created a program to provide additional incentives for physicians who use electronic prescribing in their practice. We can work with you on instituting ePrescribe in your practice, so you can be eligible for even greater incentives from the federal government.
